. . . . the professor is in

May 2, 2019

Joan Klingel Ray, a native of NYC, earned her AM and PhD degrees in English at Brown University through Brown’s University Fellowship.  She joined the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs in August 1978 as a tenure-track Assistant Professor, was named a Colorado University President’s Teaching Scholar in 1993, and retired from there as Professor Emerita of English at the end of December 2012.

Professor Ray served as JASNA’s President from 2000 to 2006 and as the Founding President of the North America Friends of Chawton House Library where she currently serves as a member of its Board of Trustees. Joan is also the author of Simply Austen(2017) and Jane Austen for Dummies(2006).

Following on the success of her hugely popular breakout session in Kansas City this past April, titled “Persuasion 101, The Professor Is In” Joan has offered to do a similar styled session for us in New York [novel/topic still being negotiated].
