The New York Metropolitan Region is your local branch of the Jane Austen Society of North America (JASNA). It is dedicated to the study, enjoyment and appreciation of Jane Austen and her writing.

Any JASNA member living in the New York Metropolitan area is automatically a member of JASNA-NY. There are no JASNA-NY dues. Members who attend regional meetings usually pay to defray costs; some events are offered without charge. Among programs arranged are stimulating and entertaining lectures, discussions and entertainments (see listing to the right); a book discussion group; an annual Box Hill Picnic; seminars on the six major novels; and a variety of special events such as readings by distinguished professional actors, film screenings, and more. As New Yorkers, we try to take full advantage of the extraordinarily rich and varied resources of our city, the cultural capital of the United States.

To take part, we invite you to contact us -- better yet, join JASNA-NY -- an organization that welcomes and enriches the lives of all Austen enthusiasts. We look forward to meeting you and talking Jane!

The person, be it gentleman or lady, who has not pleasure in a good novel, must be intolerably stupid.Henry Tilney - Northanger Abbey
