Lizzy Bennet Boozy Tea

On Saturday, February 8th, Janeites gathered at The Storyteller’s Cottage in Simsbury, CT for Lizzy Bennet’s Boozy Tea. Guests were encouraged to bring their own sparkling beverages to add to the provided complimentary ‘tea-tinis.’ The available flavors were: “Fitzwilliam Watermelon,” “Lizzy Bennet’s Iced Tea,” and “My Poor Nerves Mango.” Once drinks were made and desserts happily chosen, the ladies were shown into the Jane Austen Salon. They were invited to choose Jane Austen coloring pages and to create charming greeting cards and bookmarks. The ladies were diligent in their projects, indeed!

We were then treated to a special ‘sneak-peak’ performance by the actors of Playhouse on Park’s upcoming production of Kate Hamill’s “Pride & Prejudice” adaptation. They gave an excellent performance, choosing to do the opening scene of the play where we learn that Netherfield Park is let at last!

After a short Q & A with the cast & director, guests continued to mingle, partake in refreshments and finish their crafts before the Jane Austen trivia game. In truth, the trivia questions were exceedingly difficult, but the contestants did an admirable job with two ladies winning the top prize of beautiful bookmarks.

To be sure, a lovely and diverting time was had by all!

‘Pride & Prejudice’ runs from February 19th – March 8th at Playhouse on Park in West Hartford, Connecticut. Call 860-523-5900 (Ext. 10) or visit https://playhouseonpark.org for tickets!
