An Afternoon with Austen’s Fifth-Great Niece

Join fellow Janeites for an afternoon talk given by a close relative of Jane Austen and devoted champion of her legacy! Our distinguished guest speaker is Caroline Jane Knight, fifth great niece of Jane Austen and the last of Jane’s nieces to grow up in Chawton House on the ancestral estate where Jane lived, wrote, and found her voice as one of literature’s greatest authors.
Like most of our regional events, this meeting is open to JASNA members and nonmembers alike.It will take place in the Regina Perrugi Room on the 2nd floor at Marymount Manhattan, an ADA-accessible venue.

GRAMERCY JANE AUSTEN BOOK CLUB: “THE AUSTEN GIRLS”
JASNA’s own Elise Pallay organizes this monthly book club through Meetup.com. Each month’s selection is either an Austen novel or contemporary spin-off. JASNA-NYM ONLINE MONTHLY DISCUSSION GROUP
On the third Thursday of every month, members gather via Zoom for a discussion of some aspect of Jane Austen’s work or her life and times. This month’s subject for discussion is The Female Quixote, a 1752 novel by Charlotte Lennox that Austen admired and was influenced by. Topics and questions to ponder are sent out in advance.
