Announcing Our Next JASNA-NYM Regional Event
You are cordially invited to your fellow Janeites at Connolly’s Pub & Restaurant for a sociable lunch in a private dining room.
Unlike most of our regional meetings, this one has no special guest speaker: it’s an opportunity to chat and get to know your fellow Janeites; and longtime JASNA member Francie Schulz will provide us with some prompts for conversation around the novels. BRYANT PARK BOOKCLUB: “SENSE AND SENSIBILITY”
ASNA-NYM co-coordinator Sarah Rose Kearns is working with the curators at the Bryant Park Reading Room to produce two free, public, afternoon programs on Jane Austen’s novels over the course of this month.
These programs are a part of the Reading Room’s Book Club series: both will feature a friendly group discussion of the novel in question — preceded, to set the scene, by a short performance from one of Rose’s plays (The Austens and Persuasion, respectively). There is no need to register in advance; but if you do sign up in person at the Bryant Park Reading Room, they will give you a free copy of the book! The Reading Room is located on the north side of Bryant Park, near the 42nd Street Plaza; and we hear that the Sense and Sensibility they’re giving away is the new film tie-in edition from Penguin Random House.
